The Partnership for Math and Science Education Reform (PIMSER) is dedicated to advancing mathematics and science education throughout Kentucky by providing high-quality, research-based professional learning that is responsive to the needs of educators at every level. Since 2005, PIMSER has supported more than 10,200 teachers, administrators, and education leaders across the Commonwealth through sustained professional development that models effective instructional practices and builds capacity for lasting improvement.
Grounded in a strong history of National Science Foundation–funded work, PIMSER grew from the Appalachian Rural Systems Initiative (ARSI) and the Appalachian Mathematics and Science Partnership (AMSP). Through these initiatives and the NSF Master Teacher Project, PIMSER developed a statewide network of Master Teachers and Regional Teacher Partners who collaborate with educators, administrators, and research scientists to design and deliver impactful professional learning.
Through strategic partnerships at the local, state, and national levels, PIMSER has played a key role in shaping Kentucky’s educational landscape, including supporting the network model for Kentucky Senate Bill 1 and leading statewide training in assessment literacy. Today, PIMSER is recognized across Kentucky school districts as a trusted partner and a symbol of quality, impact, and commitment to meaningful education reform.

PIMSER began working with Magoffin County in the summer of 2022, launching a collaborative effort to enhance instructional practices and deepen content knowledge. Since then, the district has demonstrated remarkable growth, reflecting a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Explore the data to see the transformation over time.
