Education Development Center (edc.org) in Waltham MA needs your help to field test new science curriculum units with your students during the 2022-2023 school year. You can view a brochure about this ask at: http://go.edc.org/insights-field-test). All participating teachers will receive a stipend of $250 per unit.
Insights elementary science units are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), support Three-Dimensional Learning, and enable students to learn science by doing science. The units pay particular attention to developing students’ computational thinking practice related to modeling and simulation, abstraction, data gathering and analysis, decomposition, and generalization.
The units available for Grade 1 are Exploring Sound, Exploring Light, and Plants and Animals, and for Grade 4 are Changing Landscapes and Bones and Skeletons. Each unit consists of 8 or 9 activities, each about 45 minutes long. Our staff at EDC (edc.org) will provide orientations to each unit and implementation support. For more information, including sample lessons and details about the field test, or to sign up, visit our website at http://go.edc.org/insights-science.
